This is my most recent work, a baby orangutan named Martin. He was a commissioned piece for a collector in Nevada.  See his hands?   I sculpted them using my technique that you will find in my "hand tutorial" here on my blog.

No one ever taught me this technique. I came up with it myself. If I can make tiny hands and fingers while having Parkinson's disease, you can surely make them too!

"Poppy," a shabby sweet baby orangutan

Finally, after a few months, I have a new sculpture finished!  This baby orangutan's name is Poppy.  I haven't finished embellishing her box, yet, but as most of you know, my work always comes in a custom box. 

I work a lot slower than I used to because I have a tremor in my left hand caused by Parkinson's disease.  I'm too stubborn and determined to give up sculpting until my work all begins to look like little aliens.  I think it's still pretty good and pretty cute! I hope you do too!

Kim Fillio charity auction~a baby orangutan

I have listed an auction to help the family of Kim Fillio, a fellow artist, who died from cancer last month. She was a well known sculptor to many doll collectors and her income kept her family going. Currently, her husband is out of work, so several of us have sculpted dolls to help pay for her funeral expenses. She has 5 children, 3 of whom are still in school and are at home. Ebay will not permit me to list this auction as a charity one, since it is not on their approved list of charities, but I can assure you that every penny will go to Kim's family. Those of you who know me understand that I am honest and reliable.

Commisisoned orangutan complete!

I just finished my most recent commissioned piece, a toddler orangutan. One of my collectors saw the orangutan on my Ebay banner and wanted me to try to repeat it. Well, as you know, I don't use molds, so no two of my sculptures can be exactly the same, but I came close. She has hand painted eyes, which was a nice change for me after using onyx beads for my last several orangutans.

I am ready to get to work on an old fashioned bathing suit doll. If plans go correctly, she will be wire jointed and she'll be wearing a large brimmed sunhat, which will also be made from clay.

Fifi, a miniature ooak orangutan!

This is Fifi, my new shabby sweetie that I have listed on Ebay. I hope you like her face as much as I do. I think it is sweet from all angles. She is 2½ inches high, perfect for someone who doesn't have a lot of room left for her doll collection. Here is the link to her auction:

Pearl, a baby orangutan

I have sculpted another white haired orangutan! This one is wearing pink and is in a different position than the first one, which makes her one of a kind too! This one does not sit. She can lie in her box, or in the palm of your hand (where she would really like to be!). I named her Pearl. It seemed a fitting name for this little girl.
Tomorrow, I am going to list something completely different from my past sculpts, so please check in. I spent today taking pics and formatting the listing. That, in itself, is quite a job.
I am working on a baby giraffe. I do folk art interpetations of most animals, so proportions are not as important to me as the overall look and expression.

OOAK little girl orangutan sculpt!

I have had a couple of people ask me when I am ever going to sculpt an orangutan, so here she is! Meet Bessie Lou. She is only 2 1/2 inches high not including her top knot. I had fun sculpting an orangutan face for a change, and I liked doing the long fingers and toes. She has cute little glossy eyes. I am going to be working on an infant orangutan next. I also have some commissioned pieces to work on in between my sculpts that I sell on Ebay. Here is her listing link:
