Bessie Bluebird
I think everyone is ready for a little bit of spring, so here is my contribution! Bessie is the second baby bluebird I have sculpted. She is about 1½ inches tall. She has a wire armature in her little birdie feet to make them more secure. I have been sculpting my animals with ProSculpt clay and it's far stronger than Fimo or Sculpey.
Tomorrow, watch for a newborn puppy!

Betty Bluebird
http://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gifI was really happy with the innocent baby bird expression that I was going for with this sculpt! I had to push in, then pull out the clay with my stylus to get that right look in the corners of her mouth. She's up for bids on Ebay at a very low starting price. Ialtered a little round box for her. She can stand on it for display. I'm thinking it's time to start on fall and Halloween! I never start soon enough. Maybe this year I'll be smart and get an early start!

A baby flamingo!

It was time to sculpt another animal! I had seen a photo of a baby flamingo on Pinterest a couple of weeks ago and just had to do my sculpted version. I noticed that baby flamingos have chubby legs compared to the adults, in case you are wondering why they are kind of thick.
I used white Fimo for this piece. She's standing on a piece of driftwood that I got from a lady in Oregon. Flossie's eyes are onyx. I painted her with Genesis heat set paints. Her legs are reinforced with wire armatures.
Generally, I don't repeat my animals (except for my teddy bears and bunnies), so if you like Flossie, you had better grab her!

A shabby chic dictionary bird, Harmony

Birds are really popular right now and I have so much fun sculpting them! If you are new to sculpting, a simple bird might be a great place for you to start since they have no joints and are a fairly simple sculpt. Alter them or add your own embellishments to make them OOAK. Altering and dressing are often the most fun stages of creating or sculpting for me. Start keeping bits of lace, ribbon, extra buttons that come on clothing, and even books you don't want to read or have already read. Use the pages to make medallions or to cover a box.
Spring has sprung, indeed, and Harmony would be such a perfect and one of a kind gift for anyone who loves gardening or the outdoors. Or, you just might want to keep her for yourself!

New pieces coming soon!
I have a baby toucan ready to list! I'll be photographing him later today and, hopefully have him listed by this evening or by tomorrow afternoon. He's really cute! I am also at the dressing stage for my flapper doll.
My next sculpt will be a baby sleeping in a match box. I plan to alter the box so that it's feminine and shabby sweet.
So please stay tuned and don't miss out on these one of a kind sculptures!

A Baby Parrot, Lola!
Birds are popular right now and when I saw that baby parrots are white, I just had to make a shabby cottage style one! So, here is Lola. She is a very needy little being and just wants to know if she is loved. I altered a box for her, as I have been doing for all of my recent work. She can be displayed on it as I have done in the photos.

An OOAK shabby white cottage baby owl!

I just listed a 2 inch baby owl! I think he's pretty cute and very "baby." I guess "innocent" would be a perfect word to describe him! The ruffle around his neck looks like little bird feathers, don't you think?
I altered a box with the owl theme for him. On the box is a medallion made from the print of an antique school book, vintage lace, owl ephemera, and an antique shoe button (in the middle of the medallion).
