Bunny Bella, jointed bunny

I have another new bunny finished! Her name is Bunny Bella and she is wearing her new spring hat! Of course, nothing about her looks new....I hope! My intention is to make my work look old and vintage or antique.

I jointed her at the arms and legs, but her right ear keeps the right arm from moving much.  I used plain old sculpey to make this lop eared bunny.  I like its matte finish. Pro Sculpt and Fimo have a shinier finish when cured.

Watch for more bunnies! I'm in a bunny kind of mood!

Lulu, an OOAK newborn puppy!

This is Lulu, a sweet, tiny newborn puppy!   By tiny, I mean that she is 1½ X ¾ inches! I sculpted her from ProSculpt polymer clay so that she would have the "skin" of a newborn puppy and then I painted her with Genesis heat set paints and used a stiff bristled brush so that the paint would go on like hair and let the skin show through just as it would on a real puppy.

People often say "I wish they could stay little like that" when referring to a baby animal. Well this one will stay that way! 

Lulu comes in a cute little box that I altered just for her. I used vintage dictionary pages for a shabby chic look.  You can store her inside or display her on it.

Lillith, the forgotten bride doll

I feel like I have gone back to my roots with these primitive, folk art dolls. It's fun to be able to concentrate on creating a mood, a look, without having to concentrate so much on realism and perfection. In fact, the imperfections and flaws give these dolls the distressed look that is expected with an old piece.
I didn't really know where this doll would take me when I started with her. Along the way, I realized that she would be a sad bride. She waits for her groom that never showed, never to be seen again. I think you can feel her sorrow. Tear stains run down her cheeks. Her only friend and companion, an old pumpkin, sits by her side or on her lap. Her wait is neverending, an eternity.
She is jointed at the shoulders, hips, elbows, and knees so that she can be posed in many positions.

Currently, Lillith is sitting in front of a hinged black box on a black chest here in my home. You can see the box in the photos. I get to enjoy her for 3 days before she goes to her new home, where she will continue to wait, and wait, and wait.

Kim Fillio charity auction~a baby orangutan

I have listed an auction to help the family of Kim Fillio, a fellow artist, who died from cancer last month. She was a well known sculptor to many doll collectors and her income kept her family going. Currently, her husband is out of work, so several of us have sculpted dolls to help pay for her funeral expenses. She has 5 children, 3 of whom are still in school and are at home. Ebay will not permit me to list this auction as a charity one, since it is not on their approved list of charities, but I can assure you that every penny will go to Kim's family. Those of you who know me understand that I am honest and reliable.

OOAK fairy baby WIP

While I have been working on my baby bunny, I have also been working on this baby fairy (I make use of the time that I have one curing in the oven). Here is my baby fairy, which I think I will finish with a Victorian look. I know she looks pretty shocking without arms, but I will "transplant" her forearms and hands tomorrow. Cutting them into the hand just doesn't work for me, so I figured out my own technique.

My new OOAK doll baby tutorial!

This is my gift to you. I spent a lot of time last night trying to capture images as I create my next doll. She will probably be about a 4 inch doll when she is completed.
I could not photograph everything that I did, only because I don't have a third hand to hold the camera while I am working. So, this is not a complete tutorial as would be possible with a video camera. But, I have tried to give you the highlights of how I go about creating one of my little ones. I could not show all of the tweaking and smoothing I do for my dolls because I sometimes spend hours working on a piece until I get it the way I want.

New OOAK baby sculpt

I have finished a new baby to put up for auction on Ebay and I really think it's adorable. My daughter-in-law thinks it has a pure and innocent look. I have made this one "blank." In other words, it is not anatomically correct so it can be a boy or a girl. I'll leave that up to the imagination of the collector. I also left it bald because this one looks so cute that way.
This baby is 3 inches long in it's curled up position.
